Booneville has a long tradition of developing musicianship and color guard skills that are the best in the state. Over the years, several BHS Band students have tried out for, and have qualified for the Mississippi Lions All-State Band. This year, Colton Wilson has made 6th chair clarinet, and Madeline McKinney, Trey Gardner, and Kara Chandler have all made the Color Guard. Makayla Wright was honorable mention. They will travel to Las Vegas this June, along with about 100 other band students from all over the state of Mississippi, for competition. The Mississippi band has been the International Champion 33 times since 1951, including the past 5 years in a row. The cost for this trip is the sole responsibility of each student. The local Lions Club helps out financially, but if you would like to help any of the students, donations can be made to them individually.
